Organization

The SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics is an independent non-profit foundation recognised of public utility.
Its research and service groups develop, maintain and provide core bioinformatics resources that are highly appreciated by the worldwide life sciences community.

SIB allows for an efficient nationwide coordination of the bioinformatics research and education activities of its groups at its partner institutions. These include:

  • the major Swiss Universities,
  • the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology
  • independent research institutes including
    • the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research
    • the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research

SIB also works in close collaboration with industrial partners.
